Review
Story: Rishi comes to Hyderabad in search of Mafia’s deadly duo Stephen and Robert. Nobody knows how they look like. Rishi’s mission is to identify them and eliminate them. He starts from the bottom of the mafia pyramid to get to the top. In the process he uses a beautiful girl (Tamanna) who dislikes her father’s criminal activity and settles as a dance teacher in Bangkok. The rest of the story is about what prompted Rishi to search for Stephen and Robert and how he eliminates them.
Artists Performance
Prabhas: Prabhas has a kind of screen persona and a ravishing and manly chiseled body that he makes surrealistic and superlative action sequences completely believable. His dialogue delivery as a angry young man is a great asset. Lawrence has used these two unique features of Prabhas to maximum while working for Rebel film. Prabhas is completely awe-inspiring as Rebel. Prabhas also possess a rare quality of delivering comedy for an out-and-out action hero. rebelOthers: Tamanna is beautiful as a dance teacher settled in Bangkok. Deeksha Seth is completely spontaneous in this role compared to her earlier films. Krishnam Raju dons the new get-up of white haired elder man who is dressed in white designer suits all the time. Mukesh Rushi plays an important role. Brahmanandam is used for the comedy in the first half. Kovai Sarala did the role of Tamanna colleague in Bangkok dance school. Pradeep Rawat plays one of the villains. Dr. Bharat Reddy does a vital negative role. There are many new faces who have acted in negative roles. Supreet did an important role of 'right-hand-man' to hero. Ali is entertaining in a cameo.
Technical Department
Story - Screenplay - Direction: It is a typical revenge story. Villains kill hero’s father, hero searches for villains and kill them. Lawrence’s strength has always been mass elements, sentiment and action sequences. He has also incorporated a handful of mass elements, a strong father sentiment and superbly choreographed action sequences. The writing of scenes and screenplay is cliched at times, but some of the scenes offer commercial payoff to the masses. Lawrence borrows look and orientation from his film Don. Other Departments: Dialogues by Darling Swamy are nice, especially mass dialogues written to Prabhas in emotional action episodes. Lawrence’s music is strictly okay. However, picturization of couple of songs is good. Cinematography by C Ram Prasad is suave. Action sequences composed by Ram Laxman are excellent. Production values of the film are rich.
Analysis
Rebel is an revenge-based action film. Prabhas is known as one of the best mass stars of Telugu cinema. Lawrence’s movies are known to appeal to the raw senses of mass movie lovers. Rebel is no exception. Interval block is really good. Rebel has decent commercial elements and targeted at masses. Masses will like it.

Mirapakay Telugu Movie Review

Mirapakai
Cast
Ravi Teja, Richa Gangopadhyay, Deeksha Seth, Prakash Raj, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Ajay, Sunil, Rao Ramesh, Supreet, Giri, Ali, Chandra Mohan, Sudha, Raja Ravindra, Naga Babu, Brahmaji, Sanjay Swaroop and Swati (SA)

Crew
Music: Thaman
Cinematography: C Ram Prasad
Editing: Gowtam Raju
Fights: Ram - Lakshman
Story - screenplay - dialogues - direction: Harish Shankar
Producer: Ramesh Puppala
Release date: 13 January 2011

Story

Rishi (Ravi Teja) is a cop working at a special intelligence cell in Delhi. Kittu Bhai (Prakash Raj) is an international mafia kingpin operating from Bangkok. Rishi goes to Hyderabad and joins a college as a lecturer. He takes the under-cover job of lecturer to trap Kittu Bhai through Shankar Anna (Kota) - his channel in Hyderabad. He falls in love with a traditional Brahmin girl Vinamra (Richa Gangopadhay). The rest of the story is all about his triangular love story with Vaishali (Deeksha Seth) and how he brings Kittu Bhai to book.

Performance

Ravi Teja made sure that his brand comedy and entertainment is intact. He is highly energetic in dances (especially the first song and the last song). Richa Gangopadhyay is fine as a traditional Brahmin girl. Deeksha Seth is okay as a haughty girl. Swati gave a special appearance. Prakash Raj’s screen-time in the movie is more like that of a guest artist though he is the main villain. Kota Srinivasa Rao is impressive. One doesn’t understand what Sunil is doing in this movie and he is cliched

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - Direction

Story of the movie is cliched as we have seen loads of movies of cop working under-cover in Telugu since Pokiri. One good thing the director has done is to reveal the cop part of it in the beginning of the film in-stead of showing it as a twist in the end. The director’s ability cannot be judged when one directs the movie of Ravi Teja. Ravi Teja takes over the baton with his entertainment quotient and gives story/screenplay a backseat. This movie is no exception. Direction is okay in parts.

Other departments:

Music director Thaman came up with populist tunes in the movie. The songs are good though they are loud at times. Background music is good. Cinematography is average. Dialogues are nice at times. Editing is okay. Fights are neat.

Analysis:

The major story of the movie is revealed in the first 15 minutes and the culmination takes place in the last 15 minutes. The rest of two hours is dedicated to the love angle and entertainment. The screenplay that takes place during this 2-hour period is not properly done. It is a proven fact that Ravi Teja’s movies have scant respect for story and screenplay and majorly depend on the entertainment aspect. The entertainment is interesting in parts. We have to wait and see how Mirapakai is lapped up by the crowds.

Mesthri Telugu Movie Review

Banner: Siri Media Pvt lid
Cast: Dasari Narayana Rao, Mohan Babu, Srihari, Sujitha, Vijay Kumar, Pradeep Rawath, Rahul Dev, Sayaji Shinde, Chandramohan, MS Narayana, Giri Babu
Music: Vandemataram Srinivas
Cinematography: Ramaraju
Editing: Gowtam Raju
Story - screenplay: Dasari Narayana Rao
Direction: Suresh Krishna
Producer: K Ramakrishna Prasad
Release date: 12 March 2009

Story

Palakollu (Dasari) comes from nowhere and joins Vizag shipyard as a labourer and becomes their mesthri (leader) in no time. He solves the internal issues of the workers there. The local benevolent politician Gopala Krishnaiah (Vijaya Kumar) recommends and gets a big chunk of land piece for the workers. But the local mafia occupies that land forcefully. The rest of the story is all about how Mesthri solves it all and it is also about the background of Palakollu.

Artists Performance

Dasari is good as Mesthri. But he looks unfit for the role of military major in the flashback episode. His dialogue delivery and acting during the time of solving labor problems is good. But stunts for Dasari in this film are uncalled for. Mohan Babu is excellent in a small yet, vital role of army officer who succumbs to the local goons. Srihari has an important role as a suspended cop. Sujitha did the role of Mohan Babu’s daughter. Vijay Kumar did a big role in this film and he is adequate. MS Narayana provides some comedy. Sayaji Shinde looks more like a joker in this film than as a villain.

Technical departments

Story: Story of the film is about a military major finding out the culprits who is behind the murder of his protégé. Suresh Krishna did his popular format of flashback narration he has been following for over a decade since Basha. The vital twist of Gandhian turning into the villain seems to have been borrowed from Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar. Direction of the film is old-fashioned with no grip in narration. Screenplay takes the beaten path.

Other departments

Songs by Vandemataram Srinivas are mediocre. Background music is bad. Cinematography is adequate. Dialogues are ok. Editing is inadequate.

Targeting Chiranjeevi

Dasari attacked Chiranjeevi in this film by making many references in the final reels of the film. He used the character of Vijaya Kumar who starts a new party. There is a remark in the film where Dasari said people would come and attended the road shows in huge number even if sex bomb Shakeela comes for canvassing. There is another stringent criticism that caste played a major role in the rise of a celebrity. There is a reference for using Gandhi and Ambedkar images in the background (pedda valla photos venuka pettukunnatha matrana nuvvu kooda pedda vaadivi kaavu). The first press meet of Chiranjeevi held at his party office announcing his entry is also replicated in the film. The reference of a physically challenged man garlanding the leader appear to be aimed at Chiranjeevi.

Analysis
First half of the film is mediocre and second half is bad. The plus points of the film are Dasari’s tactics of wooing labors in the first half and Mohan Babu’s performance in the second half. The negative points are old fashioned direction, routine screenplay and lack of gripping narration. Dasari Narayana Rao should have concentrated on giving better movie in form of Mesthri than using it to criticize Chiranjeevi. On a whole, Mesthri disappoints a big time.
